RED-SEA: Network Solution for Exascale Architectures
(2022)2022 25TH EUROMICRO CONFERENCE ON DIGITAL SYSTEM DESIGN (DSD)In order to enable Exascale computing, next generation interconnection networks must scale to hundreds of thousands of nodes, and must provide features to also allow the HPC, HPDA, and AI applications to reach Exascale, while benefiting from new hardware and software trends. RED-SEA will pave the way to the next generation of European Exascale interconnects, including the next generation of BXI, as follows: (i) specify the new architecture ...Conference Paper -
Demonstration of 300-nm InP/GaInAsSb DHBT MMIC Technology in a 60-160GHz Ultra-Broadband Amplifier Test Vehicle
(2022)2022 17TH EUROPEAN MICROWAVE INTEGRATED CIRCUITS CONFERENCE (EUMIC 2022)We demonstrate an InP/GaInAsSb DHBT MMIC technology with a 300-nm emitter size. As a test vehicle, ultra-broadband 60-160 GHz amplifiers were fabricated and characterized. The transistors rely on a 20-nm-thick compositionally- and dopant-graded quaternary GaInAsSb base layer which leads to high breakdown-voltage BVCEO (> 5.3 V) and high cut-off frequencies (f(T) > 520 and f(MAX) > 700 GHz). This base design enables higher DC-biasing points ...Conference Paper -
On the Evolution of States in a Quantum-Mechanical Model of Experiments
(2023)Annales Henri PoincaréIdeas and results in the quantum theory of experiments are reviewed. To fix ideas, a concrete example of indirect measurements, an experiment devised by Guerlin et al. (Nature 448(7156):889-893, 2007), and theoretical interpretations thereof (Bauer and Bernard, Phys Rev A 84(4):044103, 2011; Bauer et al., Ann H Poincare 14:639-679, 2013) are recalled. Subsequently two important elements of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics, ...Journal Article -
Managing Wolves is Managing Narratives: Views of Wolves and Nature Shape People's Proposals for Navigating Human-Wolf Relations
(2023)Human EcologyThe resurgence of wolf populations in Germany is causing controversies regarding their management policies. Through 41 semi-structured interviews with stakeholders, we found that respondents favored the management directives predicated on the narratives they entertained, i.e., beliefs about wolves and nature more broadly. We identified 18 narratives that ranged from the extreme of "beings-focused, harmony-oriented, and wolf-favoring" ...Journal Article -
A neuro-vector-symbolic architecture for solving Raven's progressive matrices
(2023)NATURE MACHINE INTELLIGENCENeither deep neural networks nor symbolic artificial intelligence (AI) alone has approached the kind of intelligence expressed in humans. This is mainly because neural networks are not able to decompose joint representations to obtain distinct objects (the so-called binding problem), while symbolic AI suffers from exhaustive rule searches, among other problems. These two problems are still pronounced in neuro-symbolic AI, which aims to ...Journal Article
