  1. Climate and soil conditions shape farmers’ climate change adaptation preferences

    Stetter C.; Cronauer C. (2025)
    Agricultural Economics
Climate change poses a significant threat to agriculture and challenges farmers’ adaptive capacity. Understanding how farmers evaluate and prioritize different climate change adaptation measures under consideration of their natural environment is crucial yet widely overlooked. This study determines the relative importance that farmers attach to different adaptation measures and explores the role of climatic and soil conditions in this ...

  3. Simulating quantum circuits with restricted quantum computers

    Piveteau, Christophe (2025)
It is one of the most fundamental objectives in quantum information science to understand the boundary between the computational power of classical and quantum computers. One possible avenue to explore this boundary is to identify classes of quantum circuits that can be efficiently simulated on a classical computer. In recent years, this idea has been extended one step further: Instead of simulating a general quantum circuit with a ...

  4. E-Cargo Bikes as a Personal Transport Mode in the UK: Insights from National Surveys and Suburban Trials

Philips, Ian; Cairns, Sally; De Séjournet, Alice; et al. (2025)
    Preprints
This paper explores the potential of e-cargo bikes as a personal transport mode in the UK, reporting on a series of surveys and trials. Our survey of 2,000 English adults indicated that while only 3% of adults were using an e-cargo bike at least once a month, 11% of non-users saw themselves as someone who might ride an e-cargo bike, rising to 20% in places with a strong cycling culture. Compared to non-users, e-cargo-bike users had similar ...

  5. The use of data for health and welfare management of farmed salmons in Norway, Scotland, and Ireland

Zhou, Xiao; Boerlage, Annette S.; Bang Jensen, Britt; et al. (2025)
    Preventive Veterinary Medicine
Data-driven solutions can support stakeholders’ decision-making when managing health and welfare in Atlantic salmon production. While many different types of data are being collected, knowledge about stakeholders’ use and needs regarding this data and data tools in their day-to-day work is limited. The current study explores the status quo of using data and data tools in salmon health management and needs of the stakeholders. Fourteen ...
