This is a README file for the glacier point surface height change observations from camera observations, made in summer 2019 on Rhonegletscher, Findelenegletscher, and Glacier de la Plaine Morte, Switzerland.

date: date of reading. Format: YYYY-mm-dd
phase: 'i' for ice, 's' for snow, NaN for unknown/not identifiable. Value assigned is the phase prevalent during the longest time of the day.
dh: released stake section on the particular day [m], visually read from the camera images.
uncertainty: uncertainty regarding the dh reading. The standard error is 0.015 m and stems from a round-robin experiment (see Landmann et al., 2021, The Cryosphere, for details)
fresh_snow: True/False if fresh snow occurs on the respective day
fresh_snow_height: an estimate of the fresh snow height at the end of the day [m]. A high uncertainty is expected.
fresh_snow_height_uncertainty: estimated uncertainty in the fresh snow height reading [m]. Can be very high.
key_remarks: remarks after the below defined standardized remarks.
remarks: other remarks  and observations not defined above
