    We demonstrate narrow-linewidth ultrafast tunable integrated lasers based on heterogeneously integrated thin-film lithium niobate on ultra-low loss silicon nitride integrated photonic circuits. Using self-injection locking of a hybrid microresonator, we achieve a tuning speed of > 10 peta-Hertz-per-second. We also perform FMCW LiDAR ranging experiments.

    We demonstrate long-distance ranging with a fiber-frontend-based LiDAR using a free-running solid-state dual-comb laser to reduce complexity and increase robustness. A distance of >10 meters to a moving target can be measured with micrometer precision.

    We present the first modelocked, backside-cooled InGaSb-MIXSEL operating at 2035 nm, producing fundamentally modelocked pulses of 1.5 ps with average output power up to 27 mW at 3.9 GHz repetition rate.

    We integrate memristors in a silicon photonic/plasmonic platform and demonstrate modulators, photodetectors and electronic devices complemented with memory effect. The demonstrated memristors could be the key photonic building blocks in hybrid photonic-electronic neuromorphic chips.

    We demonstrate a dual-comb 80-MHz optical parametric oscillator from a single-cavity and a diode-pumped 250-MHz Yb:YAG dual-comb oscillator. Their combination can lead to a low-noise source in the mid-IR with high-power per comb line.

    We use photo-excited charges on a lithium niobate/semiconductor interface to perform reversible all-optical control of infrared light. Upon, below bandgap illumination it is recorded transmission contrast of 80% due to the build-up of a space-charge.

    We demonstrate coherent dual-comb spectroscopy of C2H2 at 1520 nm using a spatially- multiplexed dual-comb 250-MHz OPO from a linear single-cavity. The repetition-rate difference is 15.4 kHz. Each signal comb has >125-mW average power.

    We present a dual-channel ultrafast amplifier delivering millijoule energy with electronically tunable delay of the output pulses from femtoseconds to milliseconds with femtosecond precision. Millijoule energies allow frequency-conversion enabling numerous applications in linear and nonlinear spectroscopy.

    We design and fabricate a waveguide array with custom mode size and pitch. We measure crosstalk values below -45 dB within the array and Gaussian emission profiles. This device enhances the performance of parallel addressing of individual ions compared to state-of-the-art methods using beam deflectors.
