Journal of Physics and Chemistry of SolidsDaghero, Dario; Gonnelli, Renato S.; Ummarino, Giovanni A.; et al. (2006)We investigated the effect of a magnetic field on the two gaps of MgB2, Ds and Dp, by means of directional point-contact spectroscopy in MgB2 single crystals. The gaps were given by a fit of the experimental conductance curves with a generalized BTK model. The comparison of the experimental Dp(B) and Ds(B) curves with the predictions of the two-band model in dirty limit gives a diffusivity ratio 9ZDs=DpZ0:2. This result concurs with various other findings (e.g., from de Haas-van Alphen and STM measurements) in indicating that, even in high-quality crystals, the p band is moderately dirty. Further confirmation comes from the direct evaluation of the scattering parameters gs and gp from DC resistivity. - Pressure induced lattice anomalies in pnictidesItem type: Journal Article

Journal of Physics and Chemistry of SolidsGonnelli, Renato S.; Daghero, Dario; Ummarino, Giovanni A.; et al. (2006)We present the results of directional point-contact spectroscopy in state-of-the-art Mg1−xAlxB2 and Mg(B1−yCy)2 single crystals produced at ETHZ. Fitting the conductance curves of our point contacts, that always feature Andreev reflection structures, we obtained the doping dependence of the gap amplitudes. The results are discussed in comparison with other experimental findings and relevant theoretical predictions. We conclude that the physics of Al-substituted crystals at x≥0.09 might be governed by phase segregation, while C-substituted crystals unexpectedly show a doping-induced transition to single-gap superconductivity at y=0.132.
