2023 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC)Dikopoltsev, Alex; Micheletti, Paolo; Senica, Urban; et al. (2023)When optical nonlinearities are introduced to photonic topological insulators, the system starts separating from its original solid-state roots, and creating fertile ground to completely new inventions, one of which is the topological insulator laser [1]. This type of laser provides single mode lasing of semiconductor laser arrays through robust injection locking from one laser to the next despite inevitable variations and defects in semiconductor processing. Since the concept was first demonstrated [2], [3], it was far and wide applied in many systems [4]–[6], and now it seems that topological insulator lasers are currently the most auspicious application of topological photonics. - On-chip THz quantum cascade laser dual frequency combsItem type: Other Conference Item

2021 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC)Komagata, K.; Shehzad, A.; Terrasanta, G.; et al. (2021)Mid-infrared (MIR) quantum cascade laser (QCL) frequency combs are an appealing technology for dual-comb spectroscopy as they cover strong absorption bands of many relevant molecules in the MIR region and enable measurements with sub-microsecond time-resolution permitting novel insights into dynamical processes [1] . The comb properties can be directly controlled through the QCL driving current, the chip temperature or by electrical injection of the repetition frequency [2] . Nevertheless, full mutual stabilization of a QCL dual-comb spectrometer (DCS) has not yet been reported. In this work, we demonstrate a DCS with full mutual stabilization in a master-follower (MF) scheme (also known as master-slave) and the coherent averaging of its signal. - Continuous wave operation of an ultrabroadband THz quantum cascade laser showing regular comb teeth from 2 to 3 THzItem type: Other Conference ItemRösch, M.; Scalari, G.; Beck, Mattias; et al. - THz optical beatnote detection with a fast hot electron bolometer operating up to 31 GHzItem type: Other Conference Item
Proceedings of SPIE ~ Terahertz, RF, Millimeter, and Submillimeter-Wave Technology and Applications XVICibella, Sara; Forrer, Andres; Beck, Mattias; et al. (2023)We studied the performance of hot-electron bolometers (HEBs) operating at THz optical frequencies based on superconducting niobium nitride films. We report on large optical bandwidth measurement of the voltage response of the detector carried out with different THz sources. We show that the impulse response of the fully packaged HEB at 7.5 K has a 3 dB cut-off around 2 GHz, but a considerable detection capability is also observed above 30 GHz recorded in mixing mode operation by using a THz frequency comb quantum cascade laser - Broadband homogeneous quantum cascade laser emitting at 2.3 THzItem type: Other Conference ItemRösch, Markus; Scalari, Giacomo; Beck, Mattias; et al.
