Abstract

In this essay I discuss the threshold between public and private, proposing the patio as an in-between zone that helps to appropriate and differentiate the megalopolis, in particularly in area's in transition. I discuss projects by Aldo van Eyck, Korbeek Winners, Mei Architects & Mark Koehler, and Studio ninedots in The Netherlands and Belgium.
