Abstract
This issue looks at the main features and contradictions of Russia’s Africa strategy. First, Ulf Laessing gives an overview of the goals behind Russia’s growing influence in the Sahel region, providing a detailed account of Russia’s activities and highlighting the geopolitical dimension. Then Bohumil Doboš and Maria Raquel Freire go on to analyse Russia’s framing of its relations with Africa, focusing on the inherent contradictions and the limits of Russian engagement.
