Abstract

As part of a long-term research agenda on TVET in Uzbekistan, this study focuses on the demand side of the labor market. Here, we investigate the skills situation for employers in Uzbekistan, their current training practices and rationale, and finally what characteristics they care about when considering new training programs in the future. We focus specifically on hotels, working with Helvetas Uzbekistan and the Association of Hoteliers to capture a broad sample that includes 749 establishments out of all 1063 registered hotels in Uzbekistan. 365 hotels responded to the survey.
