Measurement of the Drell-Yan cross section in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe Drell-Yan differential cross section is measured in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV, from a data sample collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1. The cross section measurement, normalized to the measured cross section in the Z region, is reported for both the dimuon and dielectron channels in the dilepton invariant mass range 15–600 GeV. The normalized cross section values are quoted ...Journal Article -
Measurement of Wγ and Zγ production in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
(2011)Physics Letters BA measurement of W γ and Z γ production in proton-proton collisions at s=7 TeV is presented. Results are based on a data sample recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb-1. The electron and muon decay channels of the W and Z are used. The total cross sections are measured for photon transverse energy ETγ>10 GeV and spatial separation from charged leptons in the plane of pseudorapidity ...Journal Article -
Measurement of Bose-Einstein correlations in pp collisions at √s=0.9 and 7 TeV
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsBose-Einstein correlations between identical particles are measured in samples of proton-proton collisions at 0.9 and 7 TeV centre-of-mass energies, recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The signal is observed in the form of an enhancement of number of pairs of same-sign charged particles with small relative momentum. The dependence of this enhancement on kinematic and topological features of the event is studied. Anticorrelations ...Journal Article -
Strange particle production in pp collisions at √s=0.9 and 7 TeV
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe spectra of strange hadrons are measured in proton-proton collisions, recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC, at centre-of-mass energies of 0.9 and 7 TeV. The K0S, Λ, and Ξ− particles and their antiparticles are reconstructed from their decay topologies and the production rates are measured as functions of rapidity and transverse momentum, p T. The results are compared to other experiments and to predictions of the Pythia Monte ...Journal Article -
Search for heavy stable charged particles in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe result of a search at the LHC for heavy stable charged particles produced in pp collisions at s√=7TeV is described. The data sample was collected with the CMS detector and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.1 pb−1. Momentum and ionization-energy-loss measurements in the inner tracker detector are used to identify tracks compatible with heavy slow-moving particles. Additionally, tracks passing muon identification requirements ...Journal Article
