Measurement of the ZZ production cross section and Z →ℓ+ℓ−ℓ′+ℓ′− branching fraction in pp collisions at s√=13 TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BFour-lepton production in proton-proton collisions, pp -> (Z/gamma*)(Z/gamma*)-> l(+)l(-)l '(+)l '(-), where l,l '(-) = e or mu, is studied at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.6fb(-1). The ZZ production cross section, sigma(pp -> ZZ) = 14.6(-1.8)(+1.9)(stat)(-0.3)(+0.5) (syst) +/-0.2 (theo) +/-0.4 (lumi) pb, is measured for events with two ...Journal Article -
Search for lepton flavour violating decays of the Higgs boson to eττ and eμ in proton–proton collisions at √s = 8 TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BA direct search for lepton flavour violating decays of the Higgs boson (H) in the H→eτ and H→eμ channels is described. The data sample used in the search was collected in proton–proton collisions at s=8 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1. No evidence is found for lepton flavour violating decays in either final state. Upper limits on the branching fractions, B(H→eτ)<0.69% and ...Journal Article -
Search for long-lived charged particles in proton-proton collisions at s√= 13 TeV
(2016)Physical Review DResults are presented of a search for heavy stable charged particles produced in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.5 fb-1 collected in 2015 with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. The search is conducted using signatures of anomalously high energy deposits in the silicon tracker and long time-of-flight measurements by the muon system. The data are consistent with the ...Journal Article -
Search for dark matter particles in proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV using the razor variables
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for dark matter particles directly produced in proton-proton collisions recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 18.8 fb−1, at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The event selection requires at least two jets and no isolated leptons. The razor variables are used to quantify the transverse momentum balance in the jet momenta. The study is performed separately for ...Journal Article -
Search for new physics in final states with two opposite-sign, same-flavor leptons, jets, and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is presented for physics beyond the standard model in final states with two opposite-sign, same-flavor leptons, jets, and missing transverse momentum. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.3 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at s√=13 TeV collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2015. The analysis uses the invariant mass of the lepton pair, searching for a kinematic edge or a resonant-like excess compatible ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the mass of the top quark in decays with a J/ψ meson in pp collisions at 8 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA first measurement of the top quark mass in the decay channel t → (W → ℓν) (b → J/ψ + X → μ + μ − + X) is presented. The analysis uses events selected from the proton-proton collisions recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1, with 666 tt¯ and single top quark candidate events containing a reconstructed J/ψ candidate decaying into an ...Journal Article -
Search for dark matter in proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV with missing transverse momentum and vector boson tagged jets
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is presented for an excess of events with large missing transverse momentum in association with at least one highly energetic jet, in a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1 collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The results are interpreted using a set of simplified models for the production of dark matter via a scalar, ...Journal Article -
Studies of inclusive four-jet production with two b-tagged jets in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV
(2016)Physical Review DMeasurements are presented of the cross section for the production of at least four jets, of which at least two originate from b quarks, in proton-proton collisions. Data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 pb−1. The cross section is measured as a function of the jet transverse momentum for pT>20 GeV, and of the jet pseudorapidity for ...Journal Article -
Searches for R-parity-violating supersymmetry in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV in final states with 0–4 leptons
(2016)Physical Review DResults are presented from searches for R-parity-violating supersymmetry in events produced in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV at the LHC. Final states with 0, 1, 2, or multiple leptons are considered independently. The analysis is performed on data collected by the CMS experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb−1. No excesses of events above the standard model expectations are observed, and 95% confidence level limits ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the W boson helicity fractions in the decays of top quark pairs to lepton + jets final states produced in pp collisions at s√= 8TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BThe W boson helicity fractions from top quark decays in t (t) over bar events are measured using data from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The data were collected in 2012 with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.8 fb(-1). Events are reconstructed with either one muon or one electron, along with four jets in the final state, with two of the jets being identified as ...Journal Article
