Abstract
This book examines the role of the European Union as a security actor in the Mediterranean region since the establishment of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (EMP), or Barcelona Process, in 1995. The author examines the success and failures of EMP as well as the likely course of its evolution. Particular attention is also given to the EU's handling of Mediterranean security concerns and to the Arab-Israeli conflict. This book collects the proceedings of a March 2001 workshop on the European Union and Mediterranean security organized by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP). Show more
