dc.description.abstract
This report focused on field application of acoustic emission monitoring on an existing prestressed lightweight concrete box-girder bridge. The monitoring was performed under regular operating conditions of the bridge in order to capture acoustic emission signals reflecting possible structural deterioration processes initiating and/or developing under such circumstances. With the help of strain measurements as well as an overhead camera, it was possible to track the traffic events and correlate these with acoustic emission signals. Parameter and signal based analyses were performed to identify their limits with respect to the measured exposures.
