Abstract
In this work we carried out numerical simulations of coupled fluid flow and geomechanics aimed at understanding the effect of deep fracture zone opening during CO2 geological sequestration. Here we present a more detailed analysis of the modeled ground uplift at the three different injection wells of the In Salah CO2 demonstration project. The numerical modeling accounts for stress-dependent permeability within the reservoir unit and deep fracture zone activation governed by a Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion.
