Distributed energy resources are shaping the future of power systems. Coordination of these geographically scattered resources motivates the need for adoption of distributed control strategies. This paper presents a fully distributed DC Corrective Security Constrained Optimal Power Flow (CSCOPF) for electricity networks in which the transmission lines are potentially instrumented with Distributed Flexible AC Transmission Systems (D-FACTS). Our algorithm is based on a multi-agent view of the system, where each bus (agent) is equipped with communication and computation capabilities. Our proposed iterative procedure solves the first order optimality conditions of the underlying CSCOPF problem in a distributed manner. Each bus is responsible for updating few local variables and exchanging limited information with neighboring buses. The first order optimality conditions, which merely involve local information, constitute update functions for buses. The performance is evaluated using the IEEE 118-bus system. Show more
