Abstract
Measuring cosmogenic, in-situ produced 10Be in fluvial quartz-sands out of a 160 m long
sediment drill core from the aggrading delta area of Lake Stappitz (Nationalpark Hohe
Tauern) allows to determine catchment-wide denudation rates from the catchment of
the Seebach Valley. The large dataset of over 25 samples for the last 15,000 years is
compared with well documented climate fluctuations in the Alps. Denudation rates
and derived sediment yields over the considered time period were very variable. The
dominant influence of both climatic parameters “frequency of heavy rainfall” and
“temperature” on the denudation rates was quantified. Show more
