Stadtklang – klangqualität als gestaltungsziel

Abstract

Im Projekt «Stadtklang» geht es um die Aktivierung und Entwicklung von akustischen Potenzialen in urbanen Außenräumen. Gute klangräumliche Eigenschaften tragen stark zur Aufenthaltsqualität in Freiräumen bei, sind aber bisher, trotz des Trends zur Innenentwicklung, wenig erforscht. Anhand von Fallbeispielen wurden im Projekt Grundlagen für die Entwicklung von neuen akustisch wirksamen Bauteilen sowie ein Instrumentarium zur Klangraumgestaltung für Planende und die öffentliche Hand erarbeitet. Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über wesentliche Projektergebnisse.

The project «Advancing Urban Sound Environment» aims at developing and activating acoustic potentials of urban open spaces. Good acoustic characteristics strongly contribute to the livability and amenity values. Despite the trend towards urban inward development, this field has until now only sparsely been investigated. Based on case studies, the project provided basic research on new, acoustically effective construction components and worked out a planning aid for designing urban sound environments for the attention of planners and public authorities. The article summarizes some of the key results.
