Should Scientists act more Politically?

Abstract

The question whether scientists should act more politically has been addressed in various ways, and this contribution is not intended to add to the long list of answers that have been proposed. Instead, I will point out a few aspects of the question that would be fun to discuss with Volker Schneider. With his extensive scholarly and some first-hand practical expertise he could set my naivity straight, maybe over a dearly missed lunch in the university canteen.
