Abstract
The four-volume manual of engineering published between 1880 and 1914 is now known to only a few. There is a huge amount of information on the most important structural engineering questions. The purpose of this work is to present this great oeuvre to a larger number of colleagues based on the books on water engineering. The aim is to describe, illustrate and bring closer the origins and developments of our present-day construction world. More than 8000 pages describe all the topics of water management, which were considered important at the time. These range from hydrology to hydraulics, from water supply to sewage drainage, from river and dam engineering to ports and river mouths. In the extreme, this almost unique engineering work can be compared to today's Internet.. Show more
