Abstract
In 1920, just a couple of years after the end of WWI, the Freies Judisches Lehrhaus began offfering courses in Frankfurt am Main. The educational institution was the brain child of the philosopher Franz Rosenzweig who wanted to renew German Judaism with the help of an institution that would provide an alternative to traditional yeshivas and university education. The present article focuses on the development of Rosenzweig's ideas, the Lehrhaus's curriculum, and its history. © Koninklijke Brill NV, Leiden Show more
