Understanding intracranial dynamics is essential to the creation of a model which captures all the relevant dynamics for a speciﬁc task or patient with the minimum level of computational requirements. In order to evaluate and compare mathematical models of intracranial pressure dynamics a suitable environment is developed. This environment generates model input according to the user’s speciﬁcations. After the simulations the results are visualised in an intuitive way. One model of each Marmarou, Stevens & Lakin and Ursino were implemented in MATLAB and analysed using this environment. Processes for comparing model predictions and cross validating them with literature values are established. Furthermore the subject of shunt regulation is broached upon. Drawing upon the results it is concluded that all three models have their applications and deﬁnitive decision on complexity demands further investigation. This provides the basis for future research with the ultimate goal of maturing the design of a mechatronic shunt system with the ability to signiﬁcantly improve the quality of life for patients with hydrocephalus.
