For the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, David M. Allison and CSS’ Stephen Herzog discuss U.S., Japanese, and South Korean public opinion on nuclear use vis-a-vis North Korea. Public support for the retaliatory strikes underpinning the nuclear umbrella is quite low. The publics prefer responses that include a conventional military component.
