Cilia — or fagella, as they are interchangeably termed — are appendage-like organelles extending from eukaryotic cells. Several recent structural studies on intrafagellar transport (IFT) trains shed light on these fascinating complexes, including their assembly mechanism, stability, cargo recruitment and evolution.
