dc.description.abstract
This issue examines the reaction of Russia’s business elite to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and state-business relations more generally. Andrei Yakovlev argues that most businessmen adapted quickly to the war, but long-term stagnation and redistribution of property are creating new pressure points. Ion Marandici examines the role of the oligarchs in Russia’s militarized kleptocracy, showing how the 15 richest men have become reluctant accomplices of the war machine. Dinissa Duvanova traces the regime’s profound shift from kleptocratic crony capitalism to economic statism. Finally, Artem Or summarizes how the war has fundamentally changed the landscape of Russia’s economic elite.

dc.description.abstract
