Abstract
A general modeling procedure of the time-averaged acoustic force generated by an arbitrary sound wave in a viscous fluid exerted on a movable and compressible sphere is introduced. It is clarified physically that the time-averaged acoustic force consists of a conservative portion and a non-conservative one. The asymptotic expressions for both a thin and a thick boundary layer are presented. The solutions are in simple forms which are easily evaluated numerically. Show more
