Performance and Limitations of the Conventional Electrode Materials for Erosion of High Aspect Ratio Microcavities
(2016)Procedia CIRP ~ 18th CIRP Conference on Electro Physical and Chemical Machining (ISEM XVIII)The low electrode wear strategy based on a carbonaceous layer formation on electrodes considerably increases resource efficiency in the conventional die-sinking EDM. However, the smallest electrode projection area Ap for using the strategy is limited to 0.1 mm2 and maximum pulse current 3A, possibly due to the pulse re-opening phenomenon. In this work, using a novel generator circuit, pulse re-openings have been restricted up to pulse ...Conference Paper -
Additive Manufacturing: Polymers applicable for laser sintering (LS)
(2016)Procedia Engineering ~ International Conference on Manufacturing Engineering and Materials, ICMEM 2016Additive Manufacturing (AM) is close to become a production technique changing the way of part fabrication in future. Enhanced complexity and personalized features are aimed. The expectations in AM for the future are enormous and betimes it is considered as kind of the next industrial revolution. Laser Sintering (LS) of polymer powders is one component of the AM production techniques. However materials successfully applicable to Laser ...Conference Paper -
Geometry optimization of polycrystalline diamond tools for the milling of sintered ZrO2
(2016)Procedia CIRP ~ 7th HPC 2016 – CIRP Conference on High Performance CuttingRecent developments on tangential ultrashort-pulsed laser processing enable the generation of solid polycrystalline diamond composite tools with increasing geometric flexibility. To exploit this potential, an experimental study on the influence of the tool geometry on the cutting characteristics and the tool wear while milling sintered Zirconia dioxide is conducted. Three different tool geometries and a variation in rake and flank angles ...Conference Paper -
Design of a Measurement Setup and First Experiments on the Influence of CO2-cooling on the Thermal Displacements on a Machine Tool
(2016)Procedia CIRP ~ 7th HPC 2016 – CIRP Conference on High Performance CuttingThe paper investigates the thermal influences of CO2- and oil-cooling on the precision of a machine tool. If CO2 is used for process cooling instead of oil, a different temperature distribution in the machine is observed. Different temperature distributions lead to different tool center point (TCP)-displacements. To measure TCP-displacements under real process conditions with CO2 and oil, a special measurement setup is designed, built and ...Conference Paper -

Proton imaging of an electrostatic field structure formed in laser-produced counter-streaming plasmas
(2016)Journal of Physics: Conference SeriesWe report the measurements of electrostatic field structures associated with an electrostatic shock formed in laser-produced counter-streaming plasmas with proton imaging. The thickness of the electrostatic structure is estimated from proton images with different proton kinetic energies from 4.7 MeV to 10.7 MeV. The width of the transition region is characterized by electron scale length in the laser-produced plasma, suggesting that the ...Conference Paper -
Search for Beyond the Standard Model Physics in multi-leptonic and photonic final states with the CMS detector
(2016)Nuclear and Particle Physics ProceedingsIn this talk, the latest results from CMS on searches for beyond the Standard Model physics in final states with 2, 3, 4 (or more) leptons and with photons are presented using 20 fb−1 of data from the 8 TeV LHC run. A variety of complementary final state signatures and methods are used to probe new physics.Conference Paper
