Abstract

Lucas Schramm's Crises of European Integration: Joining Together or Falling Apart? (2024) is an ambitious contribution to the field of European Union studies. Published by Palgrave Macmillan as part of the Palgrave Studies in European Union Politics series, this volume explores the pivotal crises that have shaped the European Union (EU) since its inception, offering a comparative analysis of eight major crises that span over seven decades. Schramm's work studies the varied outcomes of these crises and introduces an explanatory framework to make sense of the different outcomes in terms of European integration patterns of various crises. By drawing on different theoretical perspectives and extensive empirical data, Schramm provides a robust analysis that is both conceptually original and deeply empirical.
