Abstract
The present checklist of Swiss rust fungi (basidiomycetes, order Uredinales [or Pucciniales]) comprises 580 taxa belonging to 547 species. For each taxon, the most important synonyms, the life cycle and the host plants recorded in Switzerland are given. It is indicated, furthermore, whether a taxon is adventive in Switzerland and to what extent it has become naturalized. Information is presented on how the accepted rust species are allotted to the rust genera, the different life cycles and host families. A host-rust index and close-up photographs of 144 species supplement the checklist.
