Abstract
Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCL) [1] are readily used sources in the mid-infrared serving mostly spectroscopic purposes, but also countermeasures and medical applications. For many of these purposes a single mode emission at a previously determined wavelength is required. This can be achieved for instance by adding Distributed-Feedback (DFB) [2] into the emitter. One approach to generate a DFB QCL is patterning the proximity of the waveguide with a grating corresponding to a designated output frequency.
