Abstract

This data collection accompanies the study "Quantifying the Rapid Propagation of Rainfall and Evapotranspiration Signals into Soils" by Gao et al. (see related publication). It contains volumetric soil moisture data from the SwissSMEX station Chamau (CHM), as well as data on precipitation, latent heat flux, air temperature, and volumetric soil moisture (SwissSMEX profile) from the Rietholzbach research station. Compulsory reference when using SwissSMEX data: Mittelbach, H., and S.I. Seneviratne 2012: A new perspective on the spatio-temporal variability of soil moisture: Temporal dynamics versus time invariant contributions. Hydrology and Earth System Sciences, 16, 2169–2179, doi:10.5194/hess-16-2169-2012. Compulsory references when using Rietholzbach data: Seneviratne, S.I. et al. (2012). Swiss prealpine Rietholzbach research catchment and lysimeter: 32 year time series and 2003 drought event. Water Resources Research, 48(6):W06526, doi:10.1029/2011WR011749.
