Abstract
Over the past decade, open-source intelligence tools have become common practice in journalism but are still relatively little adopted by researchers in the fields of architecture, landscape, and urban studies. This chapter offers a glimpse into the potential of these methodologies to present prove of the existence of Alpine bank vaults storing gold and other precious metals. As such, buildings and infrastructures serve as a lens through which to investigate the contested conduct of financial institutions, even if they are designed to remain illegible.
