Abstract

Synthetic studies towards the cytotoxic quassinoid, Javanicolide A and the anti-malarial 27-norlanostane triterpenoid, Ganoboninketal C are described. These natural products bear a common, highly substituted 6-oxabicyclo[3.2.1]octane core. Novel strategies for the construction of this common core are disclosed.
