Abstract

In this work, HFC-227ea/N2 and HFC-227ea/CO2 mixtures are investigated in a pulsed Townsend setup. The electric displacement current of electron avalanches in these gas mixtures is measured for different ratios of the electric field over the gas density E/N, and the effective ionization rate co efficient, the bulk electron drift velocity and the longitudinal electron diffusion coefficient are obtained. The applicability of these gas mixtures for medium or high voltage insulation applications is discussed.
