  1. Consciously stochastic in preference reversals

Shi, Liu; Qiu, Jianying; Li, Jiangyan; et al. (2024)
    Journal of Risk and Uncertainty
Stochastic choice, the act of choosing differently in repeated decisions, can be a conscious decision made by individuals who are aware of their inability to make a definitive choice. To examine the prevalence and implications of conscious stochastic choice, we developed a novel method and implemented it in a preference reversal experiment: In each valuation choice between the bet and a varying reference option, subjects could either pay ...

  2. The anomalous polymict ordinary chondrite breccia of Elmshorn (H3-6)-Late reaccretion after collision between two ordinary chondrite parent bodies, complete disruption, and mixing possibly about 2.8 Gyr ago

Bischoff, Addi; Patzek, Markus; Alosius, Romain M. L.; et al. (2024)
    Meteoritics & Planetary Science
Elmshorn fell April 25, 2023, about 30 km northwest of the city of Hamburg (Germany). Shortly after the fall, 21 pieces were recovered totaling a mass of 4277 g. Elmshorn is a polymict and anomalous H3-6 chondritic, fragmental breccia. The rock is a mixture of typical H chondrite lithologies and clasts of intermediate H/L (or L, based on magnetic properties) chondrite origin. In some of the 21 pieces, the H chondrite lithologies dominate, ...

  3. A prognostic neural epigenetic signature in high-grade glioma

Drexler, Richard; Khatri, Robin; Sauvigny, Thomas; et al. (2024)
    Nature Medicine
Neural-tumor interactions drive glioma growth as evidenced in preclinical models, but clinical validation is limited. We present an epigenetically defined neural signature of glioblastoma that independently predicts patients' survival. We use reference signatures of neural cells to deconvolve tumor DNA and classify samples into low- or high-neural tumors. High-neural glioblastomas exhibit hypomethylated CpG sites and upregulation of genes ...

  4. Flexible and Fully Quantized Lightweight TinyissimoYOLO for Ultra-Low-Power Edge Systems

Moosmann, Julian; Muller, Hanna; Zimmerman, Nicky; et al. (2024)
    IEEE Access
This paper deploys and explores variants of TinyissimoYOLO, a highly flexible and fully quantized ultra-lightweight object detection network designed for edge systems with a power envelope of a few milliwatts. With experimental measurements, we present a comprehensive characterization of the network's detection performance, exploring the impact of various parameters, including input resolution, number of object classes, and hidden layer ...

  5. Intraband Cooling and Auger Recombination in Weakly to Strongly Quantum-Confined CsPbBr3 Perovskite Nanocrystals

Oriel, Evan H.; Dirin, Dmitry N.; Shcherbak, Kseniia; et al. (2024)
The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters
Semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) with size-tuned energy gaps present unique and desirable properties for optoelectronic applications. Recent synthetic advancements offer routes to spheroidal CsPbBr3 perovskite NCs in the strong quantum confinement regime with narrow size dispersion. Using tunable femtosecond laser pulses, we examine intraband carrier relaxation using transient absorption spectroscopy and show that, across the transition ...
