Performance and first measurements of the MAGIC stellar intensity interferometer
(2024)Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical SocietyIn recent years, a new generation of optical intensity interferometers has emerged, leveraging the existing infrastructure of Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs). The MAGIC telescopes host the MAGIC-SII system (Stellar Intensity Interferometer), implemented to investigate the feasibility and potential of this technique on IACTs. After the first successful measurements in 2019, the system was upgraded and now features a ...Journal Article -
Investigation on the joint travel behavior in bike sharing systems during the COVID-19 pandemic: Insights from New York City
(2024)Journal of Transport GeographyAs the COVID-19 pandemic worsened, many people saw bikes as one of the safest means of transportation in the hard-hit cities. All the bike sharing utilization patterns during the pandemic are worthy of careful attention. However, there is still a lack of comprehensive understanding of niche but notable cycling behaviors, such as multi-person round trip (MPRT), defined as two or more cyclists intentionally riding together then returning ...Journal Article -
SimReadUntil for benchmarking selective sequencing algorithms on ONT devices
(2024)Bioinformatics (Oxford, England)MOTIVATION: The Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) ReadUntil API enables selective sequencing, which aims to selectively favor interesting over uninteresting reads, e.g. to deplete or enrich certain genomic regions. The performance gain depends on the selective sequencing decision-making algorithm (SSDA) which decides whether to reject a read, stop receiving a read, or wait for more data. Since real runs are time-consuming and costly, ...Journal Article -
Topological states of multiband superconductors with interband pairing
(2024)Physical Review ResearchWe study the effects of interband pairing in two-band s-wave and d-wave superconductors with D4h symmetry in both time-reversal invariant as well as time-reversal symmetry-breaking states. The presence of interband pairing qualitatively changes the nodal structure of the superconductor: nodes can (dis)appear, merge, and leave high-symmetry locations when interband pairing is tuned. Furthermore, in the d-wave case, we find that also the ...Journal Article -
On a novel gradient flow structure for the aggregation equation
(2024)Calculus of Variations and Partial Differential EquationsThe aggregation equation arises naturally in kinetic theory in the study of granular media, and its interpretation as a 2-Wasserstein gradient flow for the nonlocal interaction energy is well-known. Starting from the spatially homogeneous inelastic Boltzmann equation, a formal Taylor expansion reveals a link between this equation and the aggregation equation with an appropriately chosen interaction potential. Inspired by this formal link ...Journal Article
