  1. MILLIMETER-SCALE SEISMOLOGY: IN-VIVO RESULTS FOR MEDICAL ULTRASOUND

    Ulrich, Ines Elisa (2024)
Waves are excellent carriers of information. By analysing recorded wave- fields, this information can be extracted and harnessed to learn about the internal characteristics of the propagation medium. As they travel through space and time, waves span many orders of magnitude, which has lead to the extensive study of wave phenomena in many fields of science, including seismology and medical ultrasound. In both fields, a primary interest ...

    Astronomy & Astrophysics
    We present the detection of three exoplanets orbiting the early M dwarf TOI-663 (TIC 54962195; V = 13.7 mag, J = 10.4 mag, R* = 0.512 ± 0.015 R☉, M* = 0.514 ± 0.012 M☉, d = 64 pc). TOI-663 b, c, and d, with respective radii of 2.27 ± 0.10 R+, 2.26 ± 0.10 R+, and 1.92 ± 0.13 R+ and masses of 4.45 ± 0.65 M+, 3.65 ± 0.97 M+, and <5.2 M+ at 99%, are located just above the radius valley that separates rocky and volatile-rich exoplanets. The ...

  4. The Ascyrus Medical Dissection Stent: A One-Fits-All Strategy for the Treatment of Acute Type A Aortic Dissection?

    Pitts L.; Moon M.C.; Luehr M.; et al. (2024)
    Journal of Clinical Medicine
The treatment of DeBakey type I aortic dissection remains a major challenge in the field of aortic surgery. To upgrade the standard of care hemiarch replacement, a novel device called an “Ascyrus Medical Dissection Stent” (AMDS) is now available. This hybrid device composed of a proximal polytetrafluoroethylene cuff and a distal non-covered nitinol stent is inserted into the aortic arch and the descending thoracic aorta during hypothermic ...

    GEOCHEMISTRY GEOPHYSICS GEOSYSTEMS
The Sr-Nd-Hf-Pb isotope geochemistry of the Late Miocene Tunceli Volcanics suggests that they are the products of mixed asthenospheric and lithospheric mantle melts. The combined elemental and mineral chemistry data additionally indicate that a pyroxenite component of lithospheric origin is involved in their genesis. Calculations favor melting depths of similar to 2 GPa for the Tunceli lavas, that is, deeper than the current lithosphere ...
