Unexpected concentration dependence of the mass accommodation coefficient of water on aqueous triethylene glycol droplets
(2024)Physical Chemistry Chemical PhysicsThe mass accommodation coefficient alpha M of water on aqueous triethylene glycol droplets was determined for water mole fractions in the range xmol = 0.1-0.93 and temperatures between 21 and 26 degrees C from modulated Mie scattering measurement on single optically-trapped droplets in combination with a kinetic multilayer model. alpha M reaches minimum values around 0.005 at a critical water concentration of xmol = 0.38, and increases ...Journal Article -
Electrochemical Paper-Based Microfluidics: Harnessing Capillary Flow for Advanced Diagnostics
(2024)SmallElectrochemical paper-based microfluidics has attracted much attention due to the promise of transforming point-of-care diagnostics by facilitating quantitative analysis with low-cost and portable analyzers. Such devices harness capillary flow to transport samples and reagents, enabling bioassays to be executed passively. Despite exciting demonstrations of capillary-driven electrochemical tests, conventional methods for fabricating ...Review Article -
Pyroelectricity in poled all-organic polar polynorbornene/polydimethylsiloxane-based stretchable electrets
(2024)Journal of Materials Chemistry CPyroelectricity in a recently developed all-organic composite electret with a polar polynorbornene-based filler and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix has been studied with the help of thermal and dielectric techniques. Measurement of the pyroelectric p coefficient using a quasi-static periodic temperature variation at RT shows a non-linear dependence with the applied poling field, which is uncharacteristic of amorphous materials. Dielectric ...Journal Article -
Solute Mixing and Chaotic Transport in Unsaturated Porous Media
(2024)Porous media are ubiquitous in the environment. It is a structural component of living organisms, being present in plants, tissues, and biofilms, and also of abiotic systems, such as soils. The latter stands out for its high environmental relevance, as it mediates the effects on the subsurface of processes occurring in the atmosphere. The unsaturated region of soils, extending from the surface until the deeper aquifers, is key in this ...Doctoral Thesis -
MS MARCO Web Search: a Large-scale Information-rich Web Dataset with Millions of Real Click Labels
(2024)WWW 2024 Companion - Companion Proceedings of the ACM Web ConferenceRecent breakthroughs in large models have highlighted the critical significance of data scale, labels and modals. In this paper, we introduce MS MARCO Web Search, the first large-scale information-rich web dataset, featuring millions of real clicked query-document labels. This dataset closely mimics real-world web document and query distribution, provides rich information for various kinds of downstream tasks and encourages research in ...Conference Paper
