Observation of Same-Sign WW Production from Double Parton Scattering in Proton-Proton Collisions at √s =13 TeV
(2023)Physical Review LettersThe first observation of the production of W^{±}W^{±} bosons from double parton scattering processes using same-sign electron-muon and dimuon events in proton-proton collisions is reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1} recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV using the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. Multivariate discriminants are used to distinguish the signal process from the main backgrounds. ...Journal Article -
Measurement of differential cross sections for the production of a Z boson in association with jets in proton-proton collisions at √ s = 13 TeV
(2023)Physical Review DA measurement is presented of the production of Z bosons that decay into two electrons or muons in association with jets, in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data were recorded by the CMS Collaboration at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb-¹. The differential cross sections are measured as a function of the transverse momentum (Pₜ) of the Z boson and the transverse momentum and rapidities ...Journal Article -

Search for Higgs Boson Decay to a Charm Quark-Antiquark Pair in Proton-Proton Collisions at √ s = 13 TeV
(2023)Physical Review LettersA search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying to a charm quark-antiquark pair, H → cc¯, produced in association with a leptonically decaying V (W or Z) boson is presented. The search is performed with proton-proton collisions at √ s = 13 TeV collected by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹. Novel charm jet identification and analysis methods using machine learning techniques are employed. The ...Journal Article -
Azimuthal Correlations within Exclusive Dijets with Large Momentum Transfer in Photon-Lead Collisions
(2023)Physical Review LettersThe structure of nucleons is multidimensional and depends on the transverse momenta, spatial geometry, and polarization of the constituent partons. Such a structure can be studied using high-energy photons produced in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions. The first measurement of the azimuthal angular correlations of exclusively produced events with two jets in photon-lead interactions at large momentum transfer is presented, a process ...Journal Article -

Search for CP violation in t t ¯ H and tH production in multilepton channels in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe charge-parity (CP) structure of the Yukawa interaction between the Higgs (H) boson and the top quark is measured in a data sample enriched in the t t ¯ H and tH associated production, using 138 fb −1 of data collected in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC. The study targets events where the H boson decays via H → WW or H → ττ and the top quarks decay via t → Wb: the W bosons decay either ...Journal Article -
Constraints on anomalous Higgs boson couplings to vector bosons and fermions from the production of Higgs bosons using the ττ final state
(2023)Physical Review DA study of anomalous couplings of the Higgs boson to vector bosons and fermions is presented. The data were recorded by the CMS experiment at a center-of-mass energy of pp collisions at the LHC of 13 TeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹. The study uses Higgs boson candidates produced mainly in gluon fusion or electroweak vector boson fusion at the LHC that subsequently decay to a pair of τ leptons. Matrix-element and ...Journal Article -
Search for new physics using effective field theory in 13 TeV pp collision events that contain a top quark pair and a boosted Z or Higgs boson
(2023)Physical Review DA data sample containing top quark pairs (tt¯) produced in association with a Lorentz-boosted Z or Higgs boson is used to search for signs of new physics using effective field theory. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹ of proton-proton collisions produced at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the LHC and collected by the CMS experiment. Selected events contain a single lepton and hadronic jets, including two ...Journal Article -
Search for CP violating top quark couplings in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsResults are presented from a search for CP violation in top quark pair production, using proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data used for this analysis consist of final states with two charged leptons collected by the CMS experiment, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. The search uses two observables, O1 and O3, which are Lorentz scalars. The observable O1 is constructed from the ...Journal Article
