Distribution and growth in demand and productivity in Switzerland (1950 –2010)
(2012)KOF Working PapersI investigate whether demand growth and productivity growth in Switzerland have benefitted from the wage moderation that set in at the beginning of the 1990s in this country. The results suggest that the Swiss demand regime is profit-led while the productivity regime is wage-led. This means on the one hand that wage moderation has added almost one percentage point to GDP growth after 1990. On the other hand, it has also contributed to the ...Working Paper -
Exponential convergence of the hp version of isogeometric analysis in 1D
(2012)Research ReportWe review the recent results of [21, 22], and establish the exponential convergence of hp-version discontinuous Galerkin finite element methods for the numerical approximation of linear second-order elliptic boundary-value problems with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions and constant coefficients in threedimsional and axiparallel polyhedra. The exponential rates are confirmed in a series of numerical tests.Report -

MATSim agent heterogeneity and a one-week scenario
(2012)Arbeitsberichte Verkehrs- und RaumplanungThis report describes two MATSim extensions: inclusion of individual values of time and money and a week-long simulation period. Speeding-up week-long simulation, mechanisms for warm-starting the simulation combined with an explicit termination criterion are implemented. The extensions are applied in project Surprice to investigate equity effects with time-varying preferences in a road pricing context. First experiments’ results are ...Working Paper -
Main-Memory Hash Joins on Multi-Core CPUs
(2012)Technical Report / ETH Zurich, Department of Computer ScienceThe architectural changes introduced with multicore CPUs have triggered a redesign of main-memory join algorithms. In the last few years, two diverging views have appeared. One approach advocates careful tailoring of the algorithm to the architectural parameters (cache sizes, TLB, and memory bandwidth). The other approach argues that modern hardware is good enough at hiding cache and TLB miss latencies and, consequently, the careful ...Report
