Abstract
Emerging next-generation wearable sensors for body-fluid analysis such as sweat, interstitial fluid, and breath provide continuous, mostly non-invasive, and lab-independent molecular health information and represent a paradigm shift in healthcare. The development of these sensing platforms and their successful clinical translation are time and resource intensive and need transdisciplinary collaboration between biomedical engineers, clinicians, regulatory experts, industry representants, and patients. An in-depth understanding of the various stakeholders’ values increases chances of successful collaborations and clinical implementation. On November 14th, 2024, the Next-Generation Digital Biomarkers Summit was conducted at ETH Zurich in Switzerland, bringing together a unique blend of interdisciplinary, world-renowned scientists and industry representatives to discuss the emerging field of next-generation digital biomarkers. This Voices article summarizes the responses to the question of what value means to the summit’s diverse speakers and contributors.
