Search for electroweak production of charginos and neutralinos in multilepton final states in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsResults are presented from a search for the direct electroweak production of charginos and neutralinos in signatures with either two or more leptons (electrons or muons) of the same electric charge, or with three or more leptons, which can include up to two hadronically decaying tau leptons. The results are based on a sample of proton-proton collision data collected at s√=13 TeV, recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding ...Journal Article -
Constraints on the double-parton scattering cross section from same-sign W boson pair production in proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA first search for same-sign WW production via double-parton scattering is performed based on proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV using dimuon and electron-muon final states. The search is based on the analysis of data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1. No significant excess of events is observed above the expected single-parton scattering yields. A 95% confidence level upper limit of 0.32 ...Journal Article -
Search for supersymmetry in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV using identified top quarks
(2018)Physical Review DA search for supersymmetry is presented based on proton-proton collision events containing identified hadronically decaying top quarks, no leptons, and an imbalance pmissT in transverse momentum. The data were collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. Search regions are defined in terms of the multiplicity of bottom quark jet and top quark ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the inclusive t t ¯ cross section in pp collisions at √s=5.02 TeV using final states with at least one charged lepton
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe top quark pair production cross section (σtt¯) is measured for the first time in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. The data were collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 27.4 pb−1. The measurement is performed by analyzing events with at least one charged lepton. The measured cross section is σtt¯ = 69.5 ± 6.1 (stat) ± 5.6 (syst) ± 1.6 (lumi) pb, with a total relative ...Journal Article -
Search for a heavy right-handed W boson and a heavy neutrino in events with two same-flavor leptons and two jets at √s=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for a heavy right-handed W boson (WR) decaying to a heavy right-handed neutrino and a charged lepton in events with two same-flavor leptons (e or μ) and two jets, is presented. The analysis is based on proton-proton collision data, collected by the CMS Collaboration at the LHC in 2016 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. No significant excess above the standard model expectation is seen in the invariant ...Journal Article -
Measurement of normalized differential tt̄ cross sections in the dilepton channel from pp collisions at √s=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsNormalized differential cross sections for top quark pair production are measured in the dilepton (e+e−, μ+μ−, and μ∓e±) decay channels in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The measurements are performed with data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 fb−1 using the CMS detector at the LHC. The cross sections are measured differentially as a function of the kinematic properties of the leptons, jets ...Journal Article -
Search for resonant and nonresonant Higgs boson pair production in the bbℓνℓν final state in proton-proton collisions at s√=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsSearches for resonant and nonresonant pair-produced Higgs bosons (HH) decaying respectively into ℓνℓν, through either W or Z bosons, and \( \mathrm{b}\overline{\mathrm{b}} \) are presented. The analyses are based on a sample of proton-proton collisions at \( \sqrt{s}=13 \) TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. Data and predictions from the standard model are in agreement ...Journal Article -
Search for Higgsino pair production in 𝑝𝑝 collisions at √s=13 TeV in final states with large missing transverse momentum and two Higgs bosons decaying via H→bb̄
(2018)Physical Review DResults are reported from a search for new physics in 13 TeV proton-proton collisions in the final state with large missing transverse momentum and two Higgs bosons decaying via H→b¯b. The search uses a data sample accumulated by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2016, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. The search is motivated by models based on gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking, which predict the electroweak ...Journal Article -
Search for new physics in final states with an energetic jet or a hadronically decaying W or Z boson and transverse momentum imbalance at √s=13 TeV
(2018)Physical Review DA search for new physics using events containing an imbalance in transverse momentum and one or more energetic jets arising from initial-state radiation or the hadronic decay of W or Z bosons is presented. A data sample of proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1, is used. The observed data are found to be in agreement with the expectation ...Journal Article -
Jet properties in PbPb and pp collisions at √sNN=5.02 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsModifications of the properties of jets in PbPb collisions, relative to those in pp collisions, are studied at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of sNN−−−−√=5.02 TeV via correlations of charged particles with the jet axis in relative pseudorapidity (Δη), relative azimuth (Δϕ), and relative angular distance from the jet axis Δr=(Δη)2+(Δϕ)2−−−−−−−−−−−−√. This analysis uses data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding ...Journal Article
