Search for supersymmetry in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV using identified top quarks
(2018)Physical Review DA search for supersymmetry is presented based on proton-proton collision events containing identified hadronically decaying top quarks, no leptons, and an imbalance pmissT in transverse momentum. The data were collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. Search regions are defined in terms of the multiplicity of bottom quark jet and top quark ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the inclusive t t ¯ cross section in pp collisions at √s=5.02 TeV using final states with at least one charged lepton
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe top quark pair production cross section (σtt¯) is measured for the first time in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. The data were collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 27.4 pb−1. The measurement is performed by analyzing events with at least one charged lepton. The measured cross section is σtt¯ = 69.5 ± 6.1 (stat) ± 5.6 (syst) ± 1.6 (lumi) pb, with a total relative ...Journal Article -
Observation of Correlated Azimuthal Anisotropy Fourier Harmonics in pp and p+Pb Collisions at the LHC
(2018)Physical Review LettersThe azimuthal anisotropy Fourier coefficients (vn) in 8.16 TeV p+Pb data are extracted via long-range two-particle correlations as a function of the event multiplicity and compared to corresponding results in pp and PbPb collisions. Using a four-particle cumulant technique, vn correlations are measured for the first time in pp and p+Pb collisions. The v2 and v4 coefficients are found to be positively correlated in all collision systems. ...Journal Article -
Search for a heavy right-handed W boson and a heavy neutrino in events with two same-flavor leptons and two jets at √s=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for a heavy right-handed W boson (WR) decaying to a heavy right-handed neutrino and a charged lepton in events with two same-flavor leptons (e or μ) and two jets, is presented. The analysis is based on proton-proton collision data, collected by the CMS Collaboration at the LHC in 2016 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. No significant excess above the standard model expectation is seen in the invariant ...Journal Article -
Search for Zγ resonances using leptonic and hadronic final states in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is presented for resonances decaying to a Z boson and a photon. The analysis is based on data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1, and collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2016. Two decay modes of the Z boson are investigated. In the leptonic channels, the Z boson candidates are reconstructed using electron or muon pairs. In the hadronic ...Journal Article -
Search for top squarks decaying via four-body or chargino-mediated modes in single-lepton final states in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for the pair production of the lightest supersymmetric partner of the top quark (t~1) is presented. The search focuses on a compressed scenario where the mass difference between the top squark and the lightest supersymmetric particle, often considered to be the lightest neutralino (χ~01), is smaller than the mass of the W boson. The proton-proton collision data were recorded by the CMS experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 ...Journal Article -
Search for vector-like T and B quark pairs in final states with leptons at √s=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is presented for pair production of heavy vector-like T and B quarks in proton-proton collisions at s√=13 TeV. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1, collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC in 2016. Pair production of T quarks would result in a wide range of final states, since vector-like T quarks of charge 2e/3 are predicted to decay to bW, tZ, and tH. Likewise, vector-like B quarks are ...Journal Article -
Search for dark matter produced in association with a Higgs boson decaying to γγ or τ +τ − at √s=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for dark matter particles is performed by looking for events with large transverse momentum imbalance and a recoiling Higgs boson decaying to either a pair of photons or a pair of τ leptons. The search is based on proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected at the CERN LHC in 2016 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. No significant excess over the expected standard model ...Journal Article -
Search for a heavy resonance decaying into a Z boson and a Z or W boson in 2ℓ2q final states at √s=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search has been performed for heavy resonances decaying to ZZ or ZW in 2ℓ2q final states, with two charged leptons (ℓ = e, μ) produced by the decay of a Z boson, and two quarks produced by the decay of a W or Z boson. The analysis is sensitive to resonances with masses in the range from 400 to 4500 GeV. Two categories are defined based on the merged or resolved reconstruction of the hadronically decaying vector boson, optimized for high- ...Journal Article -
Search for new phenomena in final states with two opposite-charge, same-flavor leptons, jets, and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at √s=13 TeV
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsSearch results are presented for physics beyond the standard model in final states with two opposite-charge, same-flavor leptons, jets, and missing transverse momentum. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2016. The analysis uses the invariant mass of the lepton pair, searching for a kinematic edge or a resonant-like ...Journal Article
