Decomposing transverse momentum balance contributions for quenched jets in PbPb collisions at √sNN=2.76 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsInteractions between jets and the quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy ion collisions are studied via the angular distributions of summed charged-particle transverse momenta (p T) with respect to both the leading and subleading jet axes in high-p T dijet events. The contributions of charged particles in different momentum ranges to the overall event p T balance are decomposed into short-range jet peaks and a long-range azimuthal asymmetry ...Journal Article -
Search for two Higgs bosons in final states containing two photons and two bottom quarks in proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV
(2016)Physical Review DA search is presented for the production of two Higgs bosons in final states containing two photons and two bottom quarks. Both resonant and nonresonant hypotheses are investigated. The analyzed data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV collected with the CMS detector. Good agreement is observed between data and predictions of the standard model (SM). Upper limits are set at 95% ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the charge asymmetry in top quark pair production in pp collisions at √s =8 TeV using a template method
(2016)Physical Review DThe charge asymmetry in the production of top quark and antiquark pairs is measured in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.6 fb−1, were collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. Events with a single isolated electron or muon, and four or more jets, at least one of which is likely to have originated from hadronization of a bottom quark, are selected. A ...Journal Article -
Search for pair production of first and second generation leptoquarks in proton-proton collisions at √s =8 TeV
(2016)Physical Review DA search for pair production of first and second generation leptoquarks is performed in final states containing either two charged leptons and two jets, or one charged lepton, one neutrino and two jets, using proton-proton collision data at s=8 TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb-1, were recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC. First-generation scalar leptoquarks with masses less than 1010 (850) GeV are ...Journal Article -
Search for heavy Majorana neutrinos in e±e±+ jets and e± μ±+ jets events in proton-proton collisions at s√=8 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is performed for heavy Majorana neutrinos (N) decaying into a W boson and a lepton using the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. A signature of two jets and either two same sign electrons or a same sign electron-muon pair is searched for using 19.7 fb-1 of data collected during 2012 in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8TeV. The data are found to be consistent with the expected standard model (SM) ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the mass of the top quark in decays with a J/ψ meson in pp collisions at 8 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA first measurement of the top quark mass in the decay channel t → (W → ℓν) (b → J/ψ + X → μ + μ − + X) is presented. The analysis uses events selected from the proton-proton collisions recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1, with 666 tt¯ and single top quark candidate events containing a reconstructed J/ψ candidate decaying into an ...Journal Article -
Studies of inclusive four-jet production with two b-tagged jets in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV
(2016)Physical Review DMeasurements are presented of the cross section for the production of at least four jets, of which at least two originate from b quarks, in proton-proton collisions. Data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 pb−1. The cross section is measured as a function of the jet transverse momentum for pT>20 GeV, and of the jet pseudorapidity for ...Journal Article -
Phenomenological MSSM interpretation of CMS searches in pp collisions at √s=7 and 8 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsSearches for new physics by the CMS collaboration are interpreted in the framework of the phenomenological minimal supersymmetric standard model (pMSSM). The data samples used in this study were collected at s√=7 and 8 TeV and have integrated luminosities of 5.0 fb−1 and 19.5 fb−1, respectively. A global Bayesian analysis is performed, incorporating results from a broad range of CMS supersymmetry searches, as well as constraints from other ...Journal Article -
Measurement of differential and integrated fiducial cross sections for Higgs boson production in the four-lepton decay channel in pp collisions at root s=7 and 8 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsIntegrated fiducial cross sections for the production of four leptons via the H → 4ℓ decays (ℓ = e, μ) are measured in pp collisions at s√=7 and 8TeV. Measurements are performed with data corresponding to integrated luminosities of 5.1 fb−1 at 7TeV, and 19.7 fb−1 at 8 TeV, collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC. Differential cross sections are measured using the 8 TeV data, and are determined as functions of the transverse momentum ...Journal Article -
Search for anomalous single top quark production in association with a photon in pp collisions at root s=8 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe result of a search for flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) through single top quark production in association with a photon is presented. The study is based on proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV using data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.8 fb−1. The search for tγ events where t → Wb and W → μν is conducted in final states with a muon, a photon, ...Journal Article
