Measurement of differential cross sections and charge ratios for t-channel single top quark production in proton–proton collisions at √s=13Te
(2020)The European Physical Journal CA measurement is presented of differential cross sections for t-channel single top quark and antiquark production in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV by the CMS experiment at the LHC. From a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9fb−1, events containing one muon or electron and two or three jets are analysed. The cross section is measured as a function of the top quark transverse momentum ...Journal Article -
Search for top squarks in final states with two top quarks and several light-flavor jets in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2021)Physical Review DMany new physics models, including versions of supersymmetry characterized by R-parity violation (RPV), compressed mass spectra, long decay chains, or additional hidden sectors, predict the production of events with top quarks, low missing transverse momentum, and many additional quarks or gluons. The results of a search for new physics in events with two top quarks and additional jets are reported. The search is performed using events ...Journal Article -
Search for Wγ resonances in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV using hadronic decays of Lorentz-boosted W bosons
(2022)Physics Letters BA search for Wγ resonances in the mass range between 0.7 and 6.0 TeV is presented. The W boson is reconstructed via its hadronic decays, with the final-state products forming a single large-radius jet, owing to a high Lorentz boost of the W boson. The search is based on proton-proton collision data at √s = 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb−1 , collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2016–2018. The Wγ mass ...Journal Article -
Precision luminosity measurement in proton–proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016 at CMS
(2021)The European Physical Journal CThe measurement of the luminosity recorded by the CMS detector installed at LHC interaction point 5, using proton–proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016, is reported. The absolute luminosity scale is measured for individual bunch crossings using beam-separation scans (the van der Meer method), with a relative precision of 1.3 and 1.0% in 2015 and 2016, respectively. The dominant sources of uncertainty are related to residual ...Journal Article -
Measurements of the charm jet cross section and nuclear modification factor in pPb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
(2017)Physics Letters BThe CMS Collaboration presents the first measurement of the differential cross section of jets from charm quarks produced in proton–lead (pPb) collisions at a nucleon–nucleon center-of-mass energy of √sNN=5.02TeV, as well as results from charm quark jets in proton–proton (pp) collisions at s=2.76 and 5.02TeV. By comparing the yields of the pPb and pp collision systems at the same energy, a nuclear modification factor for charm jets from ...Journal Article -
First measurement of the cross section for top quark pair production with additional charm jets using dileptonic final states in pp collisions at s=13TeV
(2021)Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy PhysicsThe first measurement of the inclusive cross section for top quark pairs (tt‾) produced in association with two additional charm jets is presented. The analysis uses the dileptonic final states of tt‾ events produced in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 41.5fb−1, recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. A new charm jet identification algorithm provides input ...Journal Article -
Search for top squark production in fully hadronic final states in proton-proton collisions at s =13 TeV
(2021)Physical Review DA search for production of the supersymmetric partners of the top quark, top squarks, is presented. The search is based on proton-proton collision events containing multiple jets, no leptons, and large transverse momentum imbalance. The data were collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb−1. The targeted signal production scenarios are direct ...Journal Article -
Search for lepton-flavor violating decays of the Higgs boson in the μτ and eτ final states in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV
(2021)Physical Review DA search is presented for lepton-flavor violating decays of the Higgs boson to μτ and eτ. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb−1 collected at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. No significant excess has been found, and the results are interpreted in terms of upper limits on lepton-flavor violating branching fractions of the Higgs boson. The observed (expected) upper limits ...Journal Article -
Measurement of prompt D0 and D‾0 meson azimuthal anisotropy and search for strong electric fields in PbPb collisions at sNN=5.02TeV
(2021)Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy PhysicsThe strong Coulomb field created in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions is expected to produce a rapidity-dependent difference (Δv2) in the second Fourier coefficient of the azimuthal distribution (elliptic flow, v2) between D0 (u‾c) and D‾0 (uc‾) mesons. Motivated by the search for evidence of this field, the CMS detector at the LHC is used to perform the first measurement of Δv2. The rapidity-averaged value is found to be ...Journal Article -
Observation of Forward Neutron Multiplicity Dependence of Dimuon Acoplanarity in Ultraperipheral Pb-Pb Collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV
(2021)Physical Review LettersThe first measurement of the dependence of γγ→μ+μ− production on the multiplicity of neutrons emitted very close to the beam direction in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions is reported. Data for lead-lead interactions at √sNN=5.02 TeV, with an integrated luminosity of approximately 1.5 nb−1, are collected using the CMS detector at the LHC. The azimuthal correlations between the two muons in the invariant mass region 8<mμμ<60 GeV are ...Journal Article
