Measurement of the charge asymmetry in top-quark pair production in proton-proton collisions at root s=7 TeV
(2012)Physics Letters BThe difference in angular distributions between top quarks and antiquarks, commonly referred to as the charge asymmetry, is measured in pp collisions at the LHC with the CMS experiment. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.09fb -1 at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. Top-quark pairs are selected in the final state with an electron or muon and four or more jets. At least one jet is identified as originating from ...Journal Article -
Search for a W ' boson decaying to a muon and a neutrino in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
(2011)Physics Letters BA new heavy gauge boson, W', decaying to a muon and a neutrino, is searched for in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The data, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1). No significant excess of events above the standard model expectation is found in the transverse mass distribution of the muon-neutrino system. Masses below 1.40 TeV are excluded at the 95% confidence ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the production cross section for a W boson and two b jets in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2014)Physics Letters BThe production cross section for a W boson and two b jets is measured using proton-proton collisions at √s=7 TeV in a data sample collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb-1. The W+bb- events are selected in the W→μν decay mode by requiring a muon with transverse momentum pT > 25 GeV and pseudorapidity |η| < 2.1, and exactly two b-tagged jets with pT > 25 GeV and |η| < 2.4. The measured ...Journal Article -
Search for first generation scalar leptoquarks in the eνjj channel in pp collisions at √ s = 7 TeV
(2011)Physics Letters BA search for pair-production of first generation scalar leptoquarks is performed in the final state containing an electron, a neutrino, and at least two jets using proton-proton collision data at √s=7 TeV. The data were collected by the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb-1. The number of observed events is in good agreement with the predictions for standard model processes. Prior CMS results in the ...Journal Article -
Search for a non-standard-model Higgs boson decaying to a pair of new light bosons in four-muon final states
(2013)Physics Letters BResults are reported from a search for non-standard-model Higgs boson decays to pairs of new light bosons, each of which decays into the μ+μ- final state. The new bosons may be produced either promptly or via a decay chain. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.3 fb-1 of proton-proton collisions at s=7 TeV, recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2011. Such Higgs boson decays are predicted in several scenarios of ...Journal Article -
Searches for electroweak production of charginos, neutralinos, and sleptons decaying to leptons and W, Z, and Higgs bosons in pp collisions at 8 TeV
(2014)The European Physical Journal CSearches for the direct electroweak production of supersymmetric charginos, neutralinos, and sleptons in a variety of signatures with leptons and W, Z, and Higgs bosons are presented. Results are based on a sample of proton-proton collision data collected at center-of-mass energy s√=8TeV with the CMS detector in 2012, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb-1. The observed event rates are in agreement with expectations from ...Journal Article -
A search for excited leptons in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV
(2011)Physics Letters BA search for excited leptons is carried out with the CMS detector at the LHC, using 36 pb-1 of pp collision data recorded at s=7 TeV. The search is performed for associated production of a lepton and an oppositely charged excited lepton pp→ℓℓ*, followed by the decay ℓ*→ℓγ, resulting in the ℓℓγ final state, where ℓ=e,μ. No excess of events above the standard model expectation is observed. Interpreting the findings in the context of ℓ* ...Journal Article -

Combined results of searches for the standard model Higgs boson in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
(2012)Physics Letters BCombined results are reported from searches for the standard model Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions at s=7 TeV in five Higgs boson decay modes: γγ, bb, ττ, WW, and ZZ. The explored Higgs boson mass range is 110-600 GeV. The analysed data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.6-4.8 fb -1. The expected excluded mass range in the absence of the standard model Higgs boson is 118-543 GeV at 95% CL. The observed results exclude the ...Journal Article -
Measurement of differential cross sections for the production of a pair of isolated photons in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2014)The European Physical Journal CA measurement of differential cross sections for the production of a pair of isolated photons in proton–proton collisions at √s=7TeV is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0fb−1 collected with the CMS detector. A data-driven isolation template method is used to extract the prompt diphoton yield. The measured cross section for two isolated photons, with transverse energy above 40 and 25GeV respectively, ...Journal Article
