Measurement of the ratio B(B0s→J/ψf0(980))/B(B0s→J/ψφ(1020)) in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BA measurement of the ratio of the branching fractions of the Bs0 meson to J/ψf0(980) and to J/ψϕ(1020) is presented. The J/ψ, f0(980), and ϕ(1020) are observed through their decays to μ+μ−, π+π−, and K+K−, respectively. The f0 and the ϕ are identified by requiring |Mπ+π−−974 MeV|<50 MeV and |MK+K−−1020 MeV|<10 MeV. The analysis is based on a data sample of pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment ...Journal Article -
Search for new phenomena in monophoton final states in proton–proton collisions at √s=8TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BResults are presented from a search for new physics in final states containing a photon and missing transverse momentum. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.6 fb−1 collected in proton–proton collisions at s=8 TeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC. No deviation from the standard model predictions is observed for these final states. New, improved limits are set on dark matter production and on parameters of models with ...Journal Article -
Search for W′ → tb in proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is performed for the production of a massive W′ boson decaying to a top and a bottom quark. The data analysed correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1 collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at s√=8 TeV. The hadronic decay products of the top quark with high Lorentz boost from the W′ boson decay are detected as a single top flavoured jet. The use of jet substructure algorithms allows the ...Journal Article -
Production of leading charged particles and leading charged-particle jets at small transverse momenta pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV
(2015)Physical Review DThe per-event yield of the highest transverse momentum charged particle and charged-particle jet, integrated above a given pminT threshold starting at pminT=0.8 and 1 GeV, respectively, is studied in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV. The particles and the jets are measured in the pseudorapidity ranges |η|<2.4 and 1.9, respectively. The data are sensitive to the momentum scale at which parton densities saturate in the proton, to multiple partonic ...Journal Article -
Study of W boson production in pPb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
(2015)Physics Letters BThe first study of W boson production in pPb collisions is presented, for bosons decaying to a muon or electron, and a neutrino. The measurements are based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34.6 nb−1 at a nucleon–nucleon centre-of-mass energy of √sNN = 5.02 TeV , collected by the CMS experiment. The W boson differential cross sections, lepton charge asymmetry, and forward–backward asymmetries are measured for ...Journal Article -
Angular coefficients of Z bosons produced in pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV and decaying to μ+μ− as a function of transverse momentum and rapidity
(2015)Physics Letters BMeasurements of the five most significant angular coefficients, A0 through A4, for Z bosons produced in pp collisions at s=8 TeV and decaying to μ+μ− are presented as a function of the transverse momentum and rapidity of the Z boson. The integrated luminosity of the dataset collected with the CMS detector at the LHC corresponds to 19.7fb−1. These measurements provide comprehensive information about the Z boson production mechanisms, and ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the differential cross section for top quark pair production in pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV
(2015)The European Physical Journal CThe normalized differential cross section for top quark pair (tt¯) production is measured in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8TeV at the CERN LHC using the CMS detector in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7fb−1. The measurements are performed in the lepton+jets (e/μ +jets) and in the dilepton (e+e−, μ+μ−, and e±μ∓) decay channels. The tt¯ cross section is measured as a function of the kinematic properties ...Journal Article -
Measurements of the Υ(1S), Υ(2S), and Υ(3S) differential cross sections in pp collisions at √s= 7 TeV
(2015)Physics Letters BDifferential cross sections as a function of transverse momentum pT are presented for the production of ϒ(nS) (n = 1, 2, 3) states decaying into a pair of muons. Data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.9fb−1 in pp collisions at s=7TeV were collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The analysis selects events with dimuon rapidity |y| <1.2 and dimuon transverse momentum in the range 10 <pT <100GeV. The measurements show a ...Journal Article -
Measurements of the Z Z production cross sections in the 2l2ν channel in proton–proton collisions at √s=7 and 8 TeV and combined constraints on triple gauge couplings
(2015)The European Physical Journal CMeasurements of the Z Z production cross sections in proton–proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV are presented. Candidate events for the leptonic decay mode ZZ→2l2ν, where l denotes an electron or a muon, are reconstructed and selected from data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.1 (19.6)fb-1 at 7 (8) TeV collected with the CMS experiment. The measured cross sections, σ(pp→ZZ)=5.1+1.5−1.4(stat)+1.4−1.1 ...Journal Article -
Search for Lepton-Flavour-Violating Decays of the Higgs Boson
(2015)Physics Letters BThe first direct search for lepton-flavour-violating decays of the recently discovered Higgs boson (H) is described. The search is performed in the H→μτe and H→μτh channels, where τe and τh are tau leptons reconstructed in the electronic and hadronic decay channels, respectively. The data sample used in this search was collected in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s=8 TeV with the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC and corresponds ...Journal Article
