Measurements of azimuthal anisotropy of nonprompt D⁰ mesons in PbPb collisions at √sNN = 5.02TeV
(2024)Physics Letters BMeasurements of the elliptic (v₂) and triangular (v₃) azimuthal anisotropy coefficients are presented for Image 1 mesons produced in Image 2 hadron decays (nonprompt Image 1 mesons) in lead-lead collisions at √sNN = 5.02TeV. The results are compared with previously published charm meson anisotropies measured using prompt Image 1 mesons. The data were collected with the CMS detector in 2018 with an integrated luminosity of 0.58nb⁻¹. Azimuthal ...Journal Article -
Study of azimuthal anisotropy of ϒ(1S) mesons in pPb collisions at √sNN = 8.16 TeV
(2024)Physics Letters BThe azimuthal anisotropy of Y(1S) mesons in high-multiplicity proton-lead collisions is studied using data collected by the CMS experiment at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 8.16 TeV. The Y(1S) mesons are reconstructed using their dimuon decay channel. The anisotropy is characterized by the second Fourier harmonic coefficients, found using a two-particle correlation technique, in which the Y(1S) mesons are correlated with charged ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the production cross section for a W boson in association with a charm quark in proton–proton collisions at √s=13TeV
(2024)The European Physical Journal CThe strange quark content of the proton is probed through the measurement of the production cross section for a W boson and a charm (c) quark in proton–proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV . The analysis uses a data sample corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹ collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The W bosons are identified through their leptonic decays to an electron or a muon, and a neutrino. ...Journal Article -

Search for pair-produced vector-like leptons in final states with third-generation leptons and at least three b quark jets in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy PhysicsThe first search is presented for vector-like leptons (VLLs) in the context of the “4321 model”, an ultraviolet-complete model with the potential to explain existing B physics measurements that are in tension with standard model predictions. The analyzed data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 96.5 fb⁻¹, were recorded in 2017 and 2018 with the CMS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV. Final states with ...Journal Article -
Search for the Higgs boson decay to a pair of electrons in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy PhysicsA search is presented for the Higgs boson decay to a pair of electrons (e⁺e⁻) in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV. The data set was collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC between 2016 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹. The analysis uses event categories targeting Higgs boson production via gluon fusion and vector boson fusion. The observed upper limit on the Higgs boson branching fraction to an ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the tt¯ charge asymmetry in events with highly Lorentz-boosted top quarks in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy PhysicsThe measurement of the charge asymmetry in top quark pair events with highly Lorentz-boosted top quarks decaying to a single lepton and jets is presented. The analysis is performed using proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹. The selection is optimized for top quarks produced with large Lorentz boosts, resulting in nonisolated leptons and overlapping ...Journal Article -
First measurement of the forward rapidity gap distribution in pPb collisions at √sNN = 8.16 TeV
(2023)Physical Review DFor the first time at LHC energies, the forward rapidity gap spectra from proton-lead collisions for both proton and lead dissociation processes are presented. The analysis is performed over 10.4 units of pseudorapidity at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √sNN = 8.16 TeV, almost 300 times higher than in previous measurements of diffractive production in proton-nucleus collisions. For lead dissociation processes, which correspond ...Journal Article -
Measurements of the azimuthal anisotropy of prompt and nonprompt charmonia in PbPb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe second-order (v2) and third-order (v3) Fourier coefficients describing the azimuthal anisotropy of prompt and nonprompt (from b-hadron decays) J/ψ, as well as prompt ψ(2S) mesons are measured in lead-lead collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √sNN = 5.02 TeV. The analysis uses a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.61 nb−1 recorded with the CMS detector. The J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons are reconstructed ...Journal Article -
Observation of τ Lepton Pair Production in Ultraperipheral Pb-Pb Collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
(2023)Physical Review LettersWe present an observation of photon-photon production of τ lepton pairs in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions. The measurement is based on a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 404μb⁻¹ collected by the CMS experiment at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √sNN = 5.02 TeV. The γγ → τ⁺τ⁻ process is observed for τ⁺τ⁻ events with a muon and three charged hadrons in the final state. The measured fiducial cross section is ...Journal Article
