Searches for R-parity-violating supersymmetry in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV in final states with 0–4 leptons
(2016)Physical Review DResults are presented from searches for R-parity-violating supersymmetry in events produced in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV at the LHC. Final states with 0, 1, 2, or multiple leptons are considered independently. The analysis is performed on data collected by the CMS experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb−1. No excesses of events above the standard model expectations are observed, and 95% confidence level limits ...Journal Article -
Decomposing transverse momentum balance contributions for quenched jets in PbPb collisions at √sNN=2.76 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsInteractions between jets and the quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy ion collisions are studied via the angular distributions of summed charged-particle transverse momenta (p T) with respect to both the leading and subleading jet axes in high-p T dijet events. The contributions of charged particles in different momentum ranges to the overall event p T balance are decomposed into short-range jet peaks and a long-range azimuthal asymmetry ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the integrated and differential t¯t production cross sections for high-pT top quarks in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV
(2016)Physical Review DThe cross section for pair production of top quarks (t¯t) with high transverse momenta is measured in pp collisions, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC with √s=8 TeV in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1. The measurement is performed using lepton+jets events, where one top quark decays semileptonically, while the second top quark decays to a hadronic final state. The hadronic decay is reconstructed as a ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the differential cross sections for top quark pair production as a function of kinematic event variables in pp collisions at √s=7 and 8 TeV
(2016)Physical Review DMeasurements are reported of the normalized differential cross sections for top quark pair production with respect to four kinematic event variables: the missing transverse energy; the scalar sum of the jet transverse momentum (pT); the scalar sum of the pT of all objects in the event; and the pT of leptonically decaying W bosons from top quark decays. The data sample, collected using the CMS detector at the LHC, consists of 5.0 fb−1 of ...Journal Article -
Search for supersymmetry in events with a photon, a lepton, and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BA search for supersymmetry involving events with at least one photon, one electron or muon, and large missing transverse momentum has been performed by the CMS experiment. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb-1 of pp collisions at s=8 TeV, produced at the CERN LHC. No excess of events is observed beyond expectations from standard model processes. The result of the search is interpreted in the context of a ...Journal Article
