On-chip separation and subsequent biomolecule analysis of single mother-daughter cell pairs
(2015)19th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (MicroTAS 2015)Individual cells of an isogenic population can exhibit significant differences in their phenotypes. Due to the great variety of factors contributing to the emergence of cellular heterogeneity, the investigation of the underlying mechanisms is a demanding task. In recent years, several devices for cell heterogeneity studies have been developed. However, less emphasis has been put on inheritance noise studies requiring the separate analysis ...Other Conference Item -
Self-organized 3D bridging of cardiomyocytes toward creation of ultra small cell-driven pumps integrated in microstructure
(2015)19th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (MicroTAS 2015)We investigated the self-organized bridging phenomenon of cardiomyocytes in microgroove structure. Cardiomyocytes formed several bridges inside the microgrooves. The bridging tissues were completely apart from the bottom of microgroove, and surprisingly, the both edges were connecting to the microgroove walls at middle heights. Bridging of cardiomyocytes was most observed when the groove aspect ratio is around 1 regardless of the depth ...Other Conference Item -
Microfluidic monitoring of yeast mating and cell fusion
(2015)19th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (MicroTAS 2015)Cell fusion is a fundamental cellular event required for development and homeostasis. Budding yeast cell fusion during mating is an attractive model system to study the cell fusion process since yeast cells are genetically tractable and yeast cell fusion is similar to that of somatic cells1. Here, we monitor yeast mating and cell fusion event by live cell microscopy with microfluidics device.Other Conference Item -
Controlled and localized Au-TTF micro- and nanowire formation by diffusion of the precursors through PDMS
(2015)19th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (MicroTAS 2015)Here, we demonstrate the well-defined and site-specific synthesis of few or single conductive goldtetrathiafulvalene (Au-TTF) micro- and nanowires. The microfluidic device consists of two separate channel systems, one of which is filled with HAuCl4, the other one with tetrathiafulvalene, both in organic solvents. The organic solvent causes swelling of PDMS thereby enabling diffusion of TTF through PDMS into the adjacent channel with HAuCl4, ...Other Conference Item -
