Identification and Classification of Phenomena in Multispectral Satellite Imagery Using a New Image Smoother Method and its Applications in Environmental Remote Sensing
(2020)In this paper a new method of image smoothing for satellite imagery and its applications in environmental remote sensing are presented. This method is based on the global gradient minimization over the whole image. With respect to the image discrete identity, the continuous minimization problem is discretized. Using the finite difference numerical method of differentiation, a simple yet efficient 5 × 5-pixel template is derived. Convolution ...Other Conference Item -

Plenary 3 - Evolving to achieve a more inclusive future in sanitation
(2021)Presented in a documentary film, we interviewed 7 dynamic individuals working in FSM to share with us their vision for the sanitation sector and how we can evolve FSM to achieve inclusive service delivery. They range from PhD students to a manual emptier, two faecal sludge treatment plant employees, and a reuse expert providing technical assistance to utilities. The interviewees come from all around the globe – from Indonesia to the Indian ...Other Conference Item -
Website operators are not the enemy either - Analyzing options for creating cookie consent notices without dark patterns
(2022)Mensch und Computer 2022 - WorkshopbandUsers frequently receive cookie consent notices when they enter a website. They are supposed to enable an informed decision about data collection. Instead, they often contain deceptive designs - also known as dark patterns - that can nudge users to consent and thus compromise their privacy. In this paper, we explore the causes of the widespread use of dark patterns in cookie consents. To do so, we take the perspective of website operators, ...Other Conference Item
